Proposed New Food Code Rules - Food Advisory April, 2015

Attached are proposed changes to the Food Code Rules that will adopt the 2013 FDA Code by reference, include sections necessary for the enforcement of legislative requirements unique to Illinois, adoption of the Food Inspection Tool contained in Annex 7 of the FDA Food Code to be uniform throughout Illinois, implementation of a grading system.

Molly wants the Food Safety Advisory committee to approve this next week, before I vote on behalf of IALEHA I would like to see what comments the membership has with suggestions how a vote on behalf of IALEHA should be cast.  So make your comments ASAP!

Illinois Food Code

Adopt the 2013 FDA Model Code – Chapter 1-7 with the following exceptions:
Removing the following definitions:
Food Employee
Food Establishment

Deleting the following:
2-102.12 – Certified Food Protection Manager
2-102.20 – Food Protection Manager Certification
2-2 Employee Health (all of it)

Appendix A – Food Establishment Inspection Report

1. Question: Should the index for what sections are being repealed included 750.110 (in part or listed the letters)?
2. Change: 750.20b refers to "Retail Food Sanitary Inspection Report" yet the report has been labeled as "Food Establishment Inspection Report" in the work group. {Also do not refer to the report as a Food Inspection Tool as described above}.
