December 15, 2015 Meeting Notes

Here is the condensed version of discussion at the Food Advisory meeting:

USDA will be publishing rules in the Federal Register that will have specific record keeping requirements for trace back and trace forward in retail grocery stores that do grinding of ground beef. IDA would like assistance of LHD's to provide information to facilities that do ground beef grinding when the rules are adopted.
Webinar by IDPH held in Oct with those LHD's that will undergo program review in 2016 for program activities in 2015 on the changes in the Local Health Protection. A link to this webinar is to be made available to all LHD's.
No legislation is coming from FD&D for 2016 legislative session.
Proposed rules adopting FDA Food Code expected to be published in Jan 2016 with implementation date of Jan 2017.
IDPH Inspection program moving forward with more information to LHD's to follow soon.
Food Product Sampler training program for Farmers Markets is done and to handled through ITRAIN with IDPH.
Department is evaluating requests by groups to expand products that can be sold at Farmers Markets and off the farm via legislation adopted in 2015.
The Office of Health Protection will be combining their resources into one conference in 2016. There will be separate tracks for Environmental Health, Infectious Disease, and FD&D over a two conference. The Food Symposium or Infectious Disease conferences will not be held in 2016 in lieu of this approach. No date or location is available at this time.

Approved Revised Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate rules to the IL State Board of Health.
Pat Welch announced her retirement effective December 31, 2015.
